JOINT TAX RETURNS
BY MARRIED PERSONS. ELIMINATED BY AMERICAN HOUSE. (By Telegranh—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 4. The House of Representatives voted today eliminating the provision requiring married persons to file joint income tax returns, which had been the subject of hot controversy. Last week Mr Roosevelt advised the Ways and Means Committee to eliminate the joint provision, but the committee rejected the President’s request because it meant a loss of 323,000,000 dollars in revenue. The vote in the House is subject to a later roll-call.
