It is authoritatively announced that 1 Britain’s consultations are still progressing with other Governments concerned regarding the application of far-reaching financial measures of control against Japan. There is no doubt that the operation of these measures is already practical, not theoretical and that they will seriously affect supplies for Japan. ANNOUNCED & DENIED THAILAND RECOGNITION OF MANCHUKUO. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) TOKIO, August 5. The Domei News Agency, in a broadcast despatch from Bangkok, said Thailand had granted diplomatic recognition of Manchukuo. effective from August 1. Editors note that the Japanese Foreign Office similarly announced this last Friday but British sources denied it. However, the Domei Agency again announced it today.
