DOCTORS FROM OVERSEAS
ONLY MEDICAL OFFICERS ... OF HEALTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A denial that the Government was advertising in overseas newspapers with the object of obtaining doctors to operate the medical scheme was made yesterday by the Minister of Health, Mr Nordmcyer. He said that it had been the practice of the Health Department to advertise in other countries for doctors to serve under the department. It had nothing to do with the general practitioner service. For a long time there had been a shortage of medical officers of health, and those now holding the position were carrying a heavy burden. Not only was an effort being made to relieve the pressure upon them, but also to extend the department’s services.
