WILD TALK

IN THE .JAPANESE PRESS ATTACK ON BRITAIN & U.S.A. THE ENCIRCLEMENT BOGEY. ACTION IN INDO-CHINA CALLED DEFENSIVE. LONDON. August 4. The Japanese Press is still publishing inflammatory articles concerning British and American policy in the Far East. Explaining the movement of Japanese troops into Indo-China, one leading Tokio newspaper says these were necessary to meet the threat from troop concentrations on the Burmese border. The bogey of encirclement is also made a great deal of by the Japanese Press, which, claims that Japan is surrounded by hostile forces. One newspaper suggests that the United States is seeking to establish a base in Siberia, and comments that stern measures will be taken should such a base be granted. Another paper remarks that in view of the increasingly hostile attitude of the United States, Japan finds no need for a readjustment of relations with that country, but must complete her intentions in anticipation of moves to come. Japanese propagandists pay most attention to Thailand, which, they say, is threatened by Britain. Every report from Bangkok, however, shows that the Thai people have no fear of Britain. According to a British United Press report from Tokio, all Japanese ships have suspended sailings for the United States indefinitely.
