WORK OF PARLIAMENT
BILLS TO BE INTRODUCED THIS WEEK.
EARLY START ON ESTIMATES LIKELY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The debate on the Budget having been completed, the House of Representatives, which will sit on only three days a; week, will have the first of this session’s major legislation submitted to it this week. It is also possible that a start will be made with the Estimates, and as only six members of the Opposition contributed to the Budget debate, there is a likelihood of some prolonged discussions. Legislation which may appear this week includes the Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill. The .ActingPrime Minister, Mr Nash, said last night that this would redeem the promise made in the Budget to remove certain anomalies from income tax law relating to the trading banks, and it would also contain other clauses, the nature of which he did not. specify. It has, however, already been made clear that taxation will not be increased. Mr Nash added that a Finance Bill would make an early appearance, and there would also be introduced shortly a River Erosion Bill. The WarDamages Bill and the Repatriation Bill were not yet ready for presentation. „
