GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS FIRST ROUND RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The games in the first round of the senior championship played during the weekend resulted as follows:-— W. Rowles beat T. Lang; J. McCullum beat K. Allen; G. O’Neale beat H. Bloxam. Junior championship results were as follow: —G. Hoby beat J. Willett; L. Benton beat A. McNamara. The best cards handed in for the Stableford competition held in conjunction with the first championship round were: —G. O'Neale, 35, 3, 38; H. Lovegrove, 21, 12, 33; H. Nielson, 21, 12, 33; H. Bloxam, 21, 10, 31; J. McCullum, 22, 8, 30; G. Hoby, 19, 11, 30; L. G. Benton, 16, 12, 28; K. H. Allen, 22, 5, 27; H. McCarty, 15, 11, 26. Hockey. The local hockey team was defeated on-Saturday by College B by 3 goals to 2. Personal Items. Mrs W. Davis, Senior, is visiting Nelson. Mrs Arbon, Wellington, who has been the guest of Mrs J. Hatton, has returned home.
