WIDESPREAD R.A.F. ACTIVITY.
MANY OBJECTIVES ATTACKED
(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day 1.10 p.m.) RUGBY. August 3.
The R.A.F. was active over the Straits of Dover and the coast of Northern Franco during the evening. The weather was very clear in the Straits and anti-aircraft shells, bursting over the French coast in the direction of Calais, were seen from the British side. An Air Ministry communique states: “Aircraft of the Fighter Command again carried out many offensive operations over the Channel and Northern France today (Sunday). A large number of enemy objectives were attacked. Patrol vessels, aircraft on the ground, troops, gunposts and an aerodrome were raked with machine-gun and cannon fire.from low levels, and four enemy fighters wore shot down. One of our machines is missing.”
