WOMEN ON TRAMS
EMPLOYMENT AS CONDUCTORS IN MELBOURNE. SAME WAGES & CONDITIONS AS MEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright' (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The chairman of the Tramways Board announced that women will be employed as conductors on city trams. They will be paid the same wage as men and have the same conditions. Preference will be given to wives of employees on active service. Because of congestion on the trams, it was found necessary to provide the traffic staff with relief.
