R.A.F. ATTACKS ON NAZI SHIPPING
CONVOY BOMBED OFF BELGIAN
COAST.
FALSE GERMAN CLAIMS EXPOSED
LONDON. August 1. Another successful daylight raid was carried out by the R.A.F. today. Blenheims of the Bomber Command, escorted by fighters,
attacked an enemy convoy off the Belgian coast. Bombs were seen
to straddle two ships and later in
the day a vessel of about 2COO tons was observed to be burning and sinking. Two bombers and one fighter are missing.
An enemy aircraft was destroyed in small scale and ineffective raids on Britain last night. Today's German communique claims that Great Yarmouth and Plymouth were attacked during the night. This is authoritatively denied in London. It is stated that not a single bomb was dropped within 40 miles of either place.
