SAINT ANDREW SOCIETY
FUTURE ACTIVITIES. The absence of many members on war service has not resulted in any reduction of activity or loss of initiative on the part of the Saint Andrew Society. By way of innovation, next Saturday evening’s gathering will be under the control of the Saint Andrew Pipe Band. The band, it is stated, has arranged an attractive programme, consisting of Scots and old-time dancing, interspersed with entertainment items. Fellow-feeling between bands is shown by the fact that the Municipal Band will assist by supplying a quartette of instrumentalists to furnish what should prove an attractive part of the musical programme. The programme will include, also, solo dancing, recitations, and a display by the band under Drum-Major Stanton and Pipe-Major Hounslow. For the occasion, that enthusiastic member. Mrs R. Bell, has undertaken to make one of •her famous haggises. The annual interchange of visits between the Society and thp Masterton Savage Club is shortly to take place, and details will be arranged at a meeting of the council on Friday evening. At the same meeting, a new secretary will probably be appointed to replace Mr N. B. Andrew, whose services have unfortunately been lost to the Society through his removal from Masterton.
The Society will shortly render assistance to a sister society by lending the valuable services of the Saint Andrew Ladies’ Choir, under its able conductor, Mr Wm. C. Mann.
