WASTE PAPER
COLLECTION IN MASTERTON.
OVER THREE TONS SENT AWAY TODAY.
The collection of waste paper in Masterton. is proceeding apace. The first lot, amounting to over three tons, was despatched to Wellington this morning. There was*great activity during the weekend at the Paper Depot in Perry Street, opposite the Public Trust Office. Mr G. M. Ross, together with Boy Scouts and other helpers, baled up three tons of paper, which has been sent to Wellington. In addition to this, a considerable quantity of newspaper was received and this was sold locally.
In other to send the paper to Wellington in a convenient package, it was put into wool packs and pressed. Some of the bales, it is stated, weighed 700 or 8001bs.
Paper is still being received at the depot.
