The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:—
FORECAST: Strong south-east winds, reaching gale force in places. The weather will be cold and showery, with snow on the ranges. FURTHER OUTLOOK: A gradual improvement from Wednesday. LOCAL REPORTS. Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday: — Barograph, 30.07; shade temperature, maximum, 60.4; minimum, 42.6; terrestrial, 34.1; sunshine, I hour 30 minutes; rain, 1 point. Miss Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:—Barograph, 30.31; shade temperature, maximum, 55.4; minimum, 42.5; terrestrial, 40.6; sunshine., 54 minutes; rain, 20 points. Mr H.’M. Boddington reports that 27 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today.
