“WANTED BY PUBLIC.” (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. July 22, ■ Presiding at the annual meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club tonight, Mr L. C. Hazlett, vice-president, commented briefly on the subject of wartime racing. Mr Hazlett said that the attendances at the club’s meetings had been verv good and the gate receipts had improved by £llOO. This was the an’.wer to that small section of the community who had considered that there should be no racing during the war. The public evidently wanted ramn" and the club was quite righit to carry on as usual. The Government had received £22,500 in taxation, and it had not cost the Government very much to collect it.
