SALE AT ADDINGTON PRICES FIRMER. FAT CATTLE VALUES ADVANCE. (Bj t Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. Firm markets were the rule today at the weekly Addington market. Fat cattle improved in value, best quality quite pronouncedly. Store sheep were more than double the entry of last week, mostly ewes and generally of good class. These were about Is 6d to 2s a head easier, the buying capacity being oversupplied. Halfbred eight-tooth made to 25s 6d, sound-mouthed Corriedales 24s to 25s 3d, and two-tooth Corriedales to 27s 3d. Good wethers made from 19s to 21s 6d. In the fat cattle there was a smaller entry of 452 head, which included much excellent quality. There was further advance of from 20s to 25s a head for best quality and other classes to 15s. Best beef brought from 44s to 46s per 1001 b., medium 39s to 425, and rough down to 325. One truck lot of Banks Peninsula steers averaged £22 10s, and nine heifers, £l4 19s. In the fat sheep section there was a larger yarding, the total being 4000 head. Much of it was of excellent quality, and there was a good sale except for heavy ewes, which were back by about Is a head. Exceptionally good, lines of sheep were forward from South Canterbury. Good wethers made from 32s to 355, tops to 395,' medium 28s to 31s, good ewes 24s to 275, tops to 30s, light and ordinary 19s to 22s 6d. Fat pigs: Porkers were easier by 3s a head, and in an uneven sale baconers were inclined also to be weaker. Porkers made £1 18s 6d to £2 19s 6d, the average price per lb. being 73d to 83d. Baconers made £3 3s 6d to £5 2s 6d, the average per lb. being 6Jd to 7’d. MASTERTON SALE KEEN COMPETITION. FAT SHEEP PRICES ADVANCE. The Associated Auctioneers report on their weekly sale held at Masterton yesterday as follows: —We again yarded a good entry of all classes of sheep which attracted a large attendance. Competition was keen throughout and prices for fat sheep were slightly in advance of those of last week, while wether hoggets, and in-lamb ewes were keenly sought after, making prices on a par. The following list of our principal sales will indicate values: Sheep: Fat ewes, prime heavy, 14s, 14s 4d; fat ewes, 12s 3d, 12s sd, 12s 6d, 12s 7d; fat wethers, 265; fat hoggets, 19s 6d, 20s 6d, 24s 3d; m.a. ewes r.w. S.D.r., 245; m.a. ewes r.w. R.r., 22s 3d; 5-yr ewes r.w. S.D.r., 19s; f.m. ewes, r. S.D.r., 16s, 17s 3d; low condition s. ewes r.w. S.D.r., 14s, 14s 7d; cull and inferior sorts, 7s 6d, 8s 3d; empty 2-th ewes, 21s 3d; medium 2-th wethers, 18s 9d; good shorn wether hoggets, 18s Id, 18s 4d. 19s 3d; medium woolly wether hoggets, 15s, 15s 6d, 15s 9d; medium ewe hoggets, 19s 6d; medium b.f. hoggets, 15s, 15s 6d, 16s Id. Cattle: Springing Jersey heifers, £8 10s, £9; springing cows, £9, £9 15s.
