DEATH PRESUMED
FLYING OFFICER CLIVE WYLIE. MISSING SINCE JUNE, 1940. The many friends of Flying Officer Clive Wylie, of Masterton. will regret to hear that his death is now officially presumed to have occurred in June. 1940. The late Flying Officer Wylie left New Zealand in December. 1938. to take up a short term commission in the Royal Air Force. After joining the R.A.F. he was twice injured in air crashes and in June, 1940. was reported missing. No further advice had been received about him until a clay or so ago. when word came that his death was presumed to have occurred at the time he was first reported missing. In his younger days he was a keen Scout, an interest which he maintained later as a member of the Masterton Rover crew. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Wairarapa Tramping Club. Before joining up with the R.A.F. he was apprenticed to the hairdressing trade, with Mi’ A. Stubbings, of Masterton, and worked for a short period in Wellington. The deepest sympathy will be extended to Flying Officer Wylie's profiler, who resides in South Road. Master ton.
