Mr Endean has announced that he will stand as an Independent National candidate for Remuera at the next general election.
Sergt.-Observer David Boyne Annesley. of Masterton, who was previously reported missing, is now reported a prisoner of war. Mr and Mrs Thomas McCormack, Kuripuni, have received private advice that their son. Gunner Peter George McCormack, is back in Egypt safe and well.
The Rt. Rev H. St. Barbe Holland. Bishop of Wellington, left for the south by last night’s steamer express to attend a meeting of the National Council of Churches in Christchurch. He will return to Wellington tomorrow morning.
Major M. A. Stedman, Assistant Quartermaster-General for the Southern Military District, has been promoted to the rank of temporary Lieutenant-Colonel and appointed Camp Commandant at the Burnham Mobilisation Camp. Captain C. L. Meredith-Kaye, Christchurch, has been promoted to the temporary rank of major and appointed Assistant Quar-termaster-General. Southern Military District.
