AIR CASUALTIES
NEW ZEALANDERS OVERSEAS SERGEANT REPORTED KILLED. THREE OTHERS MISSING. The following air casualties were reported yesterday: — McMURTRIE. Alexander D„ Pilot Officer. R.N.Z.A.F., reported s missing ■ as result of aircraft accident. Mr A. F. McMurtrie, 615 High St., Lower Hutt '£). GRACE, James N., Sergeant, R.N.Z.A.F., reported missing on operations. Mrs A. Grace, 11 Mount St., Auckland (m). TOPP, Edward 8., Pilot Officer, R.A.F.. reported missing on operations. Mr E. B. Topp. 10 Buckingham St.. Lyall Bay, Wellington (f). ASKIN, Ralph W„ Sergeant, R.N.Z.A.F., reported killed on operations. Mr 11. W. Askin, Aorangi Downs, Albury, Canterbury (f). Death Officially Presumed. The deaths of the following personnel previously reported missing are officially presumed on the elates shown: — BROWNE. Thomas C. M„ Sergeant. R.N.Z.A.F., September, 1940. Mr G. M. Browne, Revans St., Featherston (f). DOUGLAS. Charles H„ Sergeant, R.N.Z.A.F., October, 1940. Mr T. Douglas, 162 Romilly St., Westport (f). WYLIE, Clive R., s Flying Officer, R.A.F., June, 1940. Mrs C. M. Wylie, 73 South Rd., Masterton (m). SERGEANT PILOT MISSING. IBs' Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. July 21. Advice has been received by Nurse Higginson, of the Papakura Mobilisation Camp, that her only- son, Sergeant Pilot Alfred James Higginson, aged 24, failed to return from an operational flight with the N.Z. Bomber Squadron on July 18 and has been posted as missing.
