COURSING

WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING JULIUS CAESAR WINS ARCHER CUP. HAWKE’S BAY SECURES BANNER. ; Some spectacular coursing was seen at the Akura Plumpton on Saturday in contests held, for the Archer Cup and maiden class match contest, conducted by the Wairarapa Coursing Clqb. The day* was beautifully fine and there was a large attendanoe of spectators. Hawke’s Bay supporters were successful in winning the inter-club contest. Their victory was certain when the semi-finals were run off, as two Bay dogs were left to decide the winner of the stake. Julius Caesar returned to form by winning the Archer Cup convincingly from Back-Loop-Slam. Showing good speed and determination in working the hare, he ran out the winner by 21 points to 1. A surprise during the day was the defeat of The Admiral by Sky Blue, the former not showing the form produced during the cup meeting. Sky Blue proved to be a fast worker, one of the best seen at Akura this season. The hares were fast and smart, a fact which was proved when Royal Desire outworked Flying Nell to win by 101 to 61, the hare being superior to either dog and reaching the escapes with plenty to spare.
