NIGHT RAIDS
ON WESTERN GERMANV FIRES IN HANOVER VISIBLE FOR MANY MILES. LIMITED ENEMY ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.50' a.m.) RUGBY, July 20. An official communique states: “Very few enemy aircraft flew inland last night. Bombs were dropped at two points in the Midlands, causing little damage and no casualties.” A' R.A.F. communique gives details of the night’s activity of the R.A.F. over Western Germany. It states: “During the night, Bomber Command aircraft continued their offensive over Western Germany, concentrating on the industrial areas of Hanover. They started large fires, which were visible for many miles. An enemy fighter, which tried to intercept one of our bombers near the German coast, was destroyed. Two of our bombers are missing from the night operations.”
