SALE AT FEILDING VALUES STEADY. FIRM TONE FOR FAT SHEEP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, July 18. Values were steady in all sections of the Feilding sale today, with a firmer tone for fat sheep, particularly ewes. About 3000 head of sheep were offered, and keen competition was shown for better quality mutton lines. Finest finished ewes made to 15s lOd, while up to 27s was paid for extra quality wethers. Lambs and hoggets were not in best finish and values were not up to the previous week’s level. The store sheep yarding contained a good proportion of in-lamb vwes„ for which inquiry was again good. Best two-tooth ewes made 33s 6d, and four and six-tooth 27s 2d. The quality of the adult ewes was not on the same plane as the previous week, prices showing slight restriction. Wethers and hoggets made good sales, best sorts reaching 18s, with second grade at 17s Bd. ' There was fair demand for store wethers at up to 22s 3d. Not many head of store cattle were on offer, and the limited number of run stock available were soon sold. Rising three-year A.A. steers made £7 10s and 18-month steers of same breed £5. Forward A.A. bullocks sold at £9 2s, and empty A.A. cows at £5 ss. Dairy cattle were in heavy supply, but quality was not up to that of the previous week, and prices receded easily £1 per head. Best heifers made to £9 15s, and cows nearing profit to £lO. Beef was easier in price because of lack of finish, but a small entry of ox beef sold very well, heavy lines realising to just on £l2. Pigs were again in good demand, with prices firm on the previous sale. Prices are: — Fat sheep: Extra prime ewes, 14s Id to 15s lOd; prime, 12s Id to 13s lOd; others, 8s 4d to Ils 4d; prime maiden ewes, 18s 4d; extra prime wethers, 27s 4d; prime wethers, 24s 6d to 25s 7d; light, 20s lOd to 22s 7d; extra prime lamb, 29s Id; medium prime, 23s Id to 24s 7d; light, 16s 7d to 18s lOd; light hoggets, 18s 4d to 21s 4d. Store sheep: Good two-tooth ewes, 33s 6d; smaller, 28s Gd; four-and sixtooth ewes, 25s 9d to 27s 2d; four-five-year ewes, 20s; two-tooth wethers, 22s 3d; good wether hoggets, 17s 8d to 18s 4d; smaller, 14s lid to 15s; aged ewes, Ils 2d to 15s; good ewe hoggets, 28s 7d to 295; others, 23s 6d to 25s 7d. Store cattle: Forward A.A. bullocks, £9 2s; two and a half-year A.A. steers, £7 to £7 10s; 18-month A.A. steers, £3 8s to £5; two-year A.A. heifers, £5 6s to £6 2s 6d; empty A.A. cows, £2 12s to £5 ss; works cows, £2 10s to £4 Is.

Pigs' Weaners, 14s 6d to 20s Gd; slips, 275; stores, 34s to 39s Gd; porkers, 40s to 525; sows, 40s. CARTERTON SALE DAIRY COWS IN DEMAND. GOOD PRICES FOR SHEEP. Messrs Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd., report: There was a big entry of dairy cattle at our sale yesterday, and included three complete herds. The sale attracted a big attendance and we have to report a most successful sale. Cows sold particularly well under keen competition and springing heifers also met a very buoyant market. Store cattle made late rates. A small entry of sheep came forward and made good values. Only a limited number of pigs were offered and these were very keenly competed for. The following are the prices:— Sheep: Prime hoggets, to 2Gs 9d; fat wethers to 235; fat ewes, 13s 3d, 13s 6d to 14s lOd; ewe hoggets, to 19s 4d; woolly wether hoggets, 15s Id to 18s sd. Pigs: Sow with litter of seven, to £7 10s; sows to farrow, £3 15s, £4, £4 10s, £5 to £6 15s; choppers, £2 to £2 17s 6d; porkers, 395, £2 ss, £2 10s to £2 13s; light porkers, 32s to 345; store pigs, 26s to 275; slips, to 235.
