COURSING
MEETING ON SATURDAY. CONTEST FOR ARCHER CUP. At Akura on Saturday an inter-club contest between Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa-Wellington dogs will take place in the maiden class. A handsome hand-painted banner at present held by the local club will be competed for. Eight Hawke's Bay greyhounds will be matched against eight Wairarapa-Wel-lington ' dogs. Interesting coursing should be seen in this event as well as in the open stake for the Archer Cup. The cup is for competition among Wai-rarapa-owned and trained dogs, but nominations are being accepted from all owners. Should a visiting dog win, Mr L. Archer will donate a trophy to the successful owner and the nearest local dog in the event will take the Archer Cup. Mr J. Bradbury, the club's president, has donated a trophy to the winner of the challenge match. The hares have received a thorough schooling during the three days meeting held recently and are expected to run *well. A social gathering and dance will be tendered the visitors on Saturday night in the Odd Fellows’ Hall when the banner will be presented to the successful club as well as the Archer Cup and trophies won during the afternoon.
