WRESTLING SEASON
OPENED IN WELLINGTON LAST NIGHT. PROFESSIONAL BOUTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington Wrestling Association set the 1941 season going with a tournament in the Town Hall last night in aid of the patriotic funds: In the first professional bout, of five five-minute rounds, Bert Monastra proved too fast and clever for Gunner W. Cook. Monastra finished the stronger of the pair, and took the decision by drop-kicking his man, and pinning him to the mat in the fifth round. In the second professional contest, Colin Croskery beat Sid Scott on points, after both had secured a fall.
