WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT PARKVALE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Parkvale Women’s Institute, Mrs D. Adams presided over a good attendance of members. A Corporal with the forces in Egypt wrote thanking members of the Institute for a parcel he had received. A most interesting lecture entitled “Co-operation with Nature,” was given by Mr B. Roberts, M.P., to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. Mrs L. Nolan was appointed Press correspondent to replace Miss M. Adlam, who is leaving for Levin short: ly. The monthly competitions judged by Mesdames D. Adams and N. Peacock, resulted: —Short bread: Mrs" M. McKinnon, 1; Mrs W. Adlam, 2; Mrs C. Jensen; 3. Flowers: Mrs M. McKinnon, 1; Mrs L. Rayner, 2. Juniors: — Shortbread: Miss S. Rayner and Miss M. Luckie, tied for first; Miss A. Franks, 3. Flowers: Miss S. Rayner, 1; Miss H.'McKinnon, 2. The hostesses were Mesdames C. Jensen, J. Stubbs, N. Peacock and J. Rayner.

WAIRARAPA v. BUSH. The following team will assemble at Carterton on Wednesday evening at 7.30 for practice. Ladies’ Motor Unit. The ladies’ motor unit of the Home Guard movement* had a successful parade yesterday afternoon and the members' acquitted themselves well. Magistrate’s Court. The monthly sitting of the Carterton S. Court will be held on Wednesday afternoon. It is 'probable some cases of interest will be heard. Football Premiers. By defeating Featherston on Featherston’s ground on Saturday, Carterton seniors added another victory to their unbeaten record this year. The members of the team are to be congratulated on winning the Wairarapa senior honours for the fourth year in succession. The Carterton Club hold > the unique record of having won the Wairarapa senior championship 24 times in the 41 years of its history.
