A DINNER DISH

SAVOURY TART. Line a large tart plate with puff or a good shortcrust and bake in the usual way. In the meantime fry 1 finely-chopped onion and 1 mediumsize peeled and chopped apple together until solt and a fawn colour. Add 2 cups cold cooked meat cut into dice, I dessertspoon sugar, cook a few minutes longer, then add 1 teaspoon plain flour, 1 dessertspoon curry-powder, pepper, and 2 cups stock or left-oyer gravy; stir over a low gas until mixture thickens, then add 1 tablespoon sultanas and 1 chopped banana. Simmer for 1 hour and .add salt to taste and a little lemon juice. Fill prepared tart case, then cover top with plain boiled rice, sprinkle with butteied crumbs, and cook in moderate oven for 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated through. Serve with slices of lemon.
