WEIGHT OF BOMBS

DROPPED ON GERMANY. R.A.F. PASSES NAZI RECORD. (British Official Wireless.) , RUGBY. July 12. The considerable increase in the weight of bombs dropped on Germany during recent weeks gives some indication of the rapidlygrowing severity of the blows dealt by the Royal Air Force to the enemy. The Nazis claimed that the weight of bombs dropped on England during April constituted a record for any month. The tonnage of bombs dropped on Germany during June exceeded that figure, however, and July’s weight will be heavier still. The cannons with which British fighters are now armed are proving very effective, and a general indication of the present relative efficiency of men and machines is given when it is realised that the loss among British fighters carrying out offensive operations over enemy territory is very much less than the loss sustained by the Nazis in the Battle of Britain. The R.A.F. attacks have compelled the Germans in the last four days to transfer at least five crack fighter squadrons, including the famous

Richthofen squadron, from the east to the west, says the Stockholm correspondent of the “Daily Telegrap . Bombers have also been brought pack for retaliatory attacks on Biitain. The crushing blows by the R.A.F. are shaking the civilian morale in West” ern Germany.
