Manawatu Gorge Road.
According to advice received by the Wairarapa Automobile Association the Manawatu Gorge Road is blocked by a slip. It was expected that the road would be impassable throughout the day. The alternative route via Ballance is open. Street Accident. An eight-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack Griffiths, 73 Church Street, Masterton, was knocked down by a motor lorry at the corner of Johnston Street and Colombo Road at 4.45 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The lorry was driven by Mr R. Thorby. The child was admitted to hospital with concussion and abrasions.
