NAZI PRETENCE
DENOUNCED BY KING OF NORWAY WAR NOT ONLY AGAINST BOLSHEVISM. STRUGGLE FOR WORLD DOMINATION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 10. Broadcasting from London to his people in Norway, King Haakon expressed admiration for the firmness and calmness the Norwegian population are still showing. This attitude, he said, was making the task of liberation of the Fatherland easier. He also specially thanked the merchant seamen for the courage with which they are still flying the Norwegian flag on the seven seas. “The Germans pretend that this war is only against the Bolshevist, but do not let this deceive you,” King Haakon said. “Every impartial observer knows that the attack on Russia is above all part of Germany’s struggle for world domination. What this would mean for oui’ country I need not tell you at home, who are daily witnessing the suppression of all that the Norwegians have cherished most —liberty and independence. “Should Germany be victorious it would mean oppression and thraldom for Norway and the rest of the world. The way in which the Germans have secured their foothold in our country in all fields of life and the brutality with which they trample our most sacred possessions are sufficient proofs of this.
“With this clearly in mind, it is not difficult to see that, in helping Germany to fight Russia, you assist her in her fight against the liberation of our own country. We are at war with Germany. The Germans are our enemies. Our relation to Finland must not be allowed to obscure this fact, and no propaganda must deceive you.”
