WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. •MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Men's Hockey Association was held in Grey town last night. There were present Messrs G. Maloney (chairman), J. Fisher, M. Worsfold, K. Ordish, S. Faulknor, R. Harrington, and the secretary. Accounts amounting to £9 Ils 8d were passed for payment. The manager of the team which played the Air Force eleven at Wellington reported on the trip, and it was decided to write and thank the Air Force team for its hospitality. It was decided to play the new penalty corner rule as recommended by the New Zealand Association, commencing on Saturday, July 19. The Umpires’ Association is to be notified accordingly. The senior championship competition is to close at the end of the fourth round, and the junior competition at the end of the second round. The North v South Thompson Payne Shield match will be played on July 26. There will be an A and B match so that all players will get a game. The .A game will be played at Carterton and the B game at Masterton. Mr Fisher (South) and Mr Moor (North) were appointed selectors. The Barmin Shield knock-out competition for the seniors, and the ColeBurgess junior knockout competition will be played at the end of the respective grades championship rounds. It was decided to endeavour to arrange representative senior and juniormatches with Wellington at the earliest opportunity. Mr Fisher was appointed senior selector, and Mr Moor junior selector. Arrangements are being made to hold an end of season dance in the Masonic Hall. Masterton, on Monday (Labour Day), October 27. The secretary’s action in making tentative arrangements was endorsed. As Scouts and Carterton B were the only entries for the third grade competition, they were placed in the junior section. These two teams will play off at the end of the junior round for the Worsfold Cup which is the trophy for third grade competition.
Umpires’ Association. RULES TO BE DISCUSSED. A meeting of the Wairarapa Hockey Umpires’ Association will be held in the P. and A. Rooms, Carterton, next Wednesday night. A full attendance of members is requested so as decisions and rules can be discussed and uniformity in this direction maintained. TEAMS FOR SATURDAY. The following players will represent the Wesley seniors on Saturday against Greytown at Greytown. Private cars win' leave the W-F.C.A. garage at 1.45 p.m.:—G. Maister, R. Steere. E. Steere, F. Thorby. H. Stalker, H. Filer, Gordon Stevenson, L. Gibbs, B. Harrington, A. Harrington, A. Wainscott. H. Hayes, D. Perrin. Wesley juniors to meet Old Boys at Lansdowne at 1.30 p.m.: —B. Schaefer, E. Burton, Leo Cretney, Tom McCormack, Alan Smith, Don Wilmhprst, Archie Smith, Ken Grey, F. Reeves, George McCormack, Owen Wilmhurst, R. Lash.
