VICHY SHIP

SUNK IN TURKISH WATERS. ANKARA REPRESENTATIONS. (Ey Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright! LONDON, July 7. “The Times” says the Turkish Government has made representations to Britain about the sinking of the Vichy ship, St. Didier. The truth is that the St. Didier, laden with supplies, was using the Turkish coast as a kind of covered way to Syria, abusing neutral rights. After raising the matter in Ankara, the British attacked the ship. Apparently some damage was done to small Turkish vessels nearby, for which British authorities express regret and concerning which the British Ambassador is communicating with the Turkish Government.
