POSSIBLE LEAKAGE TO NAZIS BY WAY OF EIRE MR HERBERT MORRISON INVESTIGATING. CONFERENCE WITH ULSTER GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) ‘ (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 7. Fulfilling a promise he made in the House of Commons on July 3, to investigate personally the question of leakage of information from Ireland to Germany, the Minister of Home Security, Mr Herbert Morrison, is at present in Northern Ireland, conferring with the Premier, Mr J. M. Andrews, and other members of the Government on the subject of how leakages from Ulster to Eire can be prevented. According to the Dublin correspondent of the “Evening Standard,” the Eire Government stated that no complaints had been received from Britain about the activities of German agents. It is stated that German officials are unable to communicate with Berlin by means of diplomatic bags, therefore messages are sent through the Irish cable station at Valentia to America, for relaying to Germany. Both the German and Italian Government representatives recently protested against their messages being relayed from America to Germany, via England. The Legations lodged protests with the Eire 'Government and it is believed that the Germans and Italians have since been allowed to send messages to their Governments by radio through another channel. The new method is not disclosed, but it is stated that the Italians and Germans are not allowed to use the radio transmission sets themselves and must hand over the messages to the Eire authorities. It is pointed out that, despite supervision, there is always a danger of secret radio stations.
