TORPEDOED SHIPS

BEING RAISED EY BRITISH SALVAGE CORPS. Calmly and quietly, the Admiralty’s salvage section is raising cargo 'ships that were sent to the' bottom by Üboats. Although only a few of the ships are accessible, the salvagers are beating the'last war’s record, when, of the thousands of ships torpedoed about 500 were salvaged. With vastly improved apparatus, this average is greatly exceeded. One of the feats of the salvagers in the'last war was to bring to the surface a 1.000-ton U-boat which lay in 200 feet- of water.
