BOMBED CHURCHES
MONEY RAISED IN SOUTH AFRICA At least £lO,OOO has been raised by the Methodist Church of South Africa for the reconstruction of 500 Methodist churches in Great Britain which have been destroyed or damaged in German air attacks. At the recent conference of the Church it was agreed that collections taken at all Methodist churches in the Union should be sent to the Methodist Church of Great Britain. In addition, the Transvaal and Swaziland district of the church had agreed to forego a grant of £6,000 from the Methodist Church of Great Britain for missionary work north of the Vaal River, and decided to raise the money in South Africa instead.
