. T. E. Lawrence was standing one day in the Continental Hotel, when a tourist, anxious to be seen conversing with the uncrowned King of Arabia, moved towards him. The temperature was high, and the tourist was fanning herself with a newspaper as she interrupted him. “Just think, Colonel Lawrence, 92! Ninety-two!” With a forced smile he replied: “Many happy returns of the day.”
