“THE DOVER ROAD”
FIRST PRESENTATION SATURDAY.
The Masterton Little Theatre Society is but a few years old, but already it can boast a proud record of achievement. In no season has it failed to. present to the public at least three major productions; the plays presented have been admirable in variety, and each has been an excellent play of its kind, and, above all, every performance has been an artistic success. Moreover, the Society has shown marked progress in the staging of its productions, and, although the selection of plays has in like manner become more ambitious, performance has proved itself fully equal to the increased skill required. The forthcoming production, “The Dover Road,” Mr A. A. Milne’s masterpiece, is well and favourably known. Efficient staging and performance are assured. Mrs Rich’s efficient and sympathetic handling of the cast ensure the best efforts of performers, and, with such a skilful cast as has been selected, there can be no question whether Milne’s whimsical humour and wit will receive adequate interpretation. Moreover, Mr W. N. Mackenzie Douglas’s stage management is reported to be equal to the best. Altogether, it is expected -that the production of “The Dover Road” will excel even that of “Without the Prince.”
The Opera House should be filled to capacity for both the Saturday and the Monday performances. Meanwhile, there are still good seats available. The box plans are at Steele and Bill’s.
