ATTACK ON RUSSIA
ANTICIPATION OF EVENTS. A remarkable anticipation of events was penned by M. V. V. Tilea, former Rumanian Minister in London, in the “Sunday Times” of March 30, a week before Hitler moved against Yugoslavia and Greece. He wrote: The new situation in the Balkans is certainly not one which encourages Russia again to help Gernpany to gain an easy victory. The best information suggests that what Hitler has had in mind was to finish quickly with the Balkans, to drive out of Europe the last British airman and soldier, then to turn on Russia and seize the great wheat-grow-ing areas in the Ukraine, and only after that to force the ultimate fight with the western Democracies. To their friends the puppet Governments of the countries they have overrun, the Germans have made no secret of their feeling toward Russia.
