AIRCRAFT ENGINES
AMERICAN PRODUCTION PLANS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, July 2. The Buick and Chevrolet divisions of General Motors have disclosed plans for each to produce thousands of Pratt and Whitney aero engines monthly, supplementing the construction programmes of the other automobile manufacturers. General Motors are also making an effort to increase the output of Allison engines to 1000 a month.
The Chevrolet division has been allotted 89.000,000 dollars for defence Work, and Buick 88,000,000 dollars. It is estimated that when the three leading aircraft manufacturers have completed their expansion they will be producing engines totalling 7,000,000 horse-power a month.
