NAZI THRUSTS

WITH RUSSIANS ASTRIDE COMMUNICATIONS

EXTRAORDINARY DEPTH OF FIGHTING AREA. INTERESTING PROBLEMS RAISED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) RUGBY, July 2. A study of the latest Russian and German communiques, in conjunction with the map, underlines the campaign’s most interesting feature, the extraordinary depth over which the fighting is going on. From the fact that over a depth of 180 to 200 miles many bodies of troops, some of them large, are in conflict, qualified military observers here reach the consequently interesting problem or how far can the German mechanised forces continue their advance, with large enemy bodies astride their lines of communications, necessitating the dropping back of considerable forces to maintain these lines. It is seen as a possibility that the process may continue till the German forces at the head of the advance find their supplies not coming through.
