BRITISH BOMBER DEFEATS ENEMV FIGHTERS
ONE OF LATTER SHOT DOWN.
SEVERAL OTHERS DAMAGED.

An Air Ministry communique dealing with the latest daylight raids on Nonrth-western Germany, says that during the attack on the seaplane base at Borkum, one of our bombers was unsuccessfully engaged by six fighters. The bomber beat off the attack after the rear-gunner had been wounded and replaced by another member of the crew. An enemy fighter was shot down into the sea and several others were seen to be damaged.

An Air Ministry communique states: “German heavy industries in the Ruhr and the Rhineland were again attacked by bombers of the R.A.F. last night, when objectives at Duisburg, Cologne and Dusseldorf! were the main targets. Many large fires were started, particularly at Duisburg, where they were followed by very heavy explosions. Four of our bombers are missing.”
