NATIONAL SAVINGS
PROGRESS AT MASTERTON. SUCCESS OF GROUP SCHEME. In response to the latest appeal for an increase of National Savings Investment accounts a definite move in the right direction is now being made in Masterton with the result that the number of accounts opened during the past ton days has been approximately 150. This brings the total number of accounts opened to date at Masterton up to 1549 and though this figure is considered to be quite a good effort it is one which can and must be improved upon. A reminder is given here to al! householders who recently received through the post the necessary forms tc open investment accounts to make use of them, or if already an investor tc hand on the forms to someone who may have neglected to join up with this very necessary national movement. The group scheme is proving very successful and every effort is being made by the group collectors and all concerned to increase their memberships. At present there are 48 groups with a membership of 525 operating here and it is anticipated that these figures will be improved upon in the near future. The few firms who have so far failed to respond to the appeal are again reminded to reconsider their decision. The present is considered the time to get on with the job and to get a group operating. The latest groups to be set up are those by the employees of the following firms: Wairarana Electric Power Board, H. B. Thomas. Donald and Sons Ltd., and Gawitb, Biss and Wilson.
