NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. NEXT WEEK'S ATTRACTION. The Wairarapa Coursing Club's classic event of the season, the North Island championship, which will be decided at the Akura Plumpton next week, will bring together the cream of the greyhounds of the North Island. Nominations are already to hand from Gisborne. Wairoa. Hastings. Napier and Wellington and with good local entries a large list is expected. The championship, which is equivalent to the Waterloo Cup, will be run over three days, commencing on Thursday next, July 3. on which date the first and second rounds of the cup will be run. On Friday a start will be made with the Purse and Plate for dogs beaten in the first and second round of the cup respectively, also the third round of the cup. On Saturday the semi-finals and finals of the Cup. Purse and Plate will be decided.
