IMPRISONED AT LISBON SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST PORTUGAL. QUESTION OF DIPLOMATIC PRIVILEGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, June 25. Mr Arthur Lardin, on a special assignment in the employ of the Office of Production Management, arrived by clipper. He said Portuguese customs officials at Lisbon imprisoned him for 30 hours without food or water last week when he refused to open a bag of diplomatic mail, including military secrets, from London to Washington. He obtained his release by bribing a taxi-driver. The officials failed to see the contents of the bag.
