WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT HASTWELLS. WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) I At the monthly meeting of the Hastwells Women's Institute, Mrs K. Ngatuere presided over a good attendance of members. The president read a letter from Pte. ’B. Dick thanking the Institute for the parcel of knitted articles which had been presented to him. The competitions were won as follow: Knitted Peggy squares: Seniors, Mrs C. Seymour 1, Miss A. Dick 2, Miss H. Madsen 3. Juniors: Miss I. Madsen 1, Miss O. Halberg 2, Miss E. Larsen 3. Flower competition: Man’s buttonhole, Miss I. Madsen 1, Mrs Madsen 2, Mrs C. Seymour 3. The game which was conducted by Mrs Ngatuere was won by Mrs C. Seymour with Misses H. and I. Madsen second. The roll call was “My Favourite Song.” A parcel fund competition was won by Mrs Seymour. The motto for the month was read by the president. Mrs Seymour, Miss A. Dick and Miss O. Halberg were thanked for judging the competitions. The hostesses, Misses H. Madsen and O. Halberg, served afternoon tea.
