4, NORTH ISLAND CUP MEETING. All arrangements and preparations for the successful running of the 61dog classic at Akura Plumpton ’.text week are reaching completion. Several important, improvements have been carried out. at Akura during the last few weeks and these should he of much assistance in running such a large event. A final working bee will be held on Saturday afternoon to complete a shelter for spectators and competitors. A handsome cup has been donated by the National Tobacco Co., to be known as the Riverhead Gold Cup. This trophy will be presented to the successful owner. The hares have received intensive training and schooling and are running strongly. It is expected that they will prove more than a match for the dogs.
