Reported by Germans BATTLE ALONG THE WHOLE FRONTIER RUSSIANS CLAIM DESTRUCTION OF PLANES AND TANKS LONDON, June 24. A Berlin broadcast states that a tank battle is going on all along the Russian-German frontier, where hard fighting is takingplace. German infantry, it is added, have penetrated into Russian territory under artillery protection and the advance is proceeding slowly. The Russians are not defending themselves inefficiently, Several hundred Russian soldiers weie killed in hand-to-hand fighting at one point on the frontier. There is little other news of the fighting. A Russian communique admits that the Germans have occupied three towns in Russian-occupied Poland, including Brest Litovsk. The Russians claim that already the Germans have lost 128 aeroplanes and 300 tanks in two days’ fighting. They also claim to have captured 5,000 German officers and men. A message from Helsinki states that the Germans are only a few miles from the Latvian frontier.
