MANAWATU MEETING SECOND DAY RESULTS. BIRKOLOGY WINS AGAIN. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N.. June 23. The winter meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club concluded at Awapuni today in fine but overcast and very cold weather. The principal event, the Awapuni Steeplechase, again went to Birkology, after a fine display over the fences, improved jumping by Tidewaiter saw him take the Raukawa Hurdles, and Dulieu’s stable also won the principal flat race with Young Charles. Sceptre scored in the sprint. There was a good attendance for an off day and the totalisator handled £17,967 for the day, compared with £15.611 10s on the Thursday last year. The total for the meeting was £42,882 10s, against £38,719 last May. an increase of £4163 10s. The going was soft and slow. Results: — Akitio Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase, about 21m.: 4. GAY PARADE INCIDENT DIVIDENDS TO BE PAID. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, June 23. Following receipt of information from the Racing Conference, the Ashburton Racing Club stewards today decided that the dividends on Gay Parade, winner of the Maronan Handicap on Saturday, be paid out forthwith. A protest alleged that the horse was not trained by the owners as stated in the race book. DANNEVIRKE MEETING DEFLATION REHANDICAPPED. Mr A. V. O'Brien has rehandicapped Deflation 61b. to 9.3 for the Rakaiatai Hack Handicap at the Dannevirke Hunt meeting on Saturday.
