INTRUDER IN HOUSE
CHASE IN EARLY MORNING AT LANSDOWNE. BOOTLESS BURGLAR. ON FROSTY NIGHT. An intruder was discovered early this morning in the residence of Mr V. E. Donald, of Lansdowne, but he managed to make good his escape. Mr Donald awoke at 1.45 a.m. to see the outline of a man standing alongside his bed. He at once gave chase and rushed out to the front of the house in an effort to intercept him. Mr Donald's trousers were taken but they were later recovered in the shrubbery, though a small amount of money was removed. The intruder's bicycle was found on the cattle stops and his boots on the roadway. The police were communicated with and were quickly on the scene. Later in the night, it is believed the intruder paid a second visit io the residence and appropriated a pair of boots on the back porch. As he had lost his own boots and his bicycle as well, no doubt the pair taken would, prove of some comfort on a frosty night, such as was experienced last night.
