PROMOTED VICE-MARSHAL. ’ (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON. June 21. A New Zealander, Air Commodore C. R. Carr, has been gazetted with the acting rank of Air Vice-Marshal. He acted as flying officer for Shackleton's last expedition and served in the last war in France and later in North Russia, where he gained the D. He was selected in 1927 officially to attempt for* Britain the world's nonstop flight record, but after three attempts he was obliged to give up.
