Allies Forcing Their Way Into Damascus AUSTRALIANS MEETING RESISTANCE IN COASTAL ZONE ENEMY HELD IN COUNTER-ATTACKS LONDON, June 20. The Allied, forces in Syria are continuing to push forward and. fighting is reported on all fronts. The Australians are meeting resistance in the coastal zone. South of Damascus our troops have held their own against counter-attacks by the Vichy forces. Free French and Indian troops have made a further advance in the Damascus area.
