FRENCH SUBMARINE
USED BY THE GERMANS. IN ATTACK ON ROBIN MOOR. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CAPE TOWN, June 19. The Germans used a French submarine to sink the American steamer Robin Moor, according to the second officer, Mr Taylor. "I plainly saw the words La Touche in raised letters on the side of the conning-tower.” he said. "The letters were painted over in an attempt to hide them. There was also a cartoon head of a Guernsey cow on the conning-tower with the inscription ‘La Vache qui rit. lhe commander was certainly German, though he spoke English.”
GUILTY U=BOAT EXCELLENT PHOTOS TAKEN BY SURVIVORS. WASHINGTON. June 19. The Assistant Secretary of State. Mr Welles, announced that survivors of the Robin Moor at Cape Town have excellent photographs of the guilty U-boat with which to determine beyond doubt the U-boat’s identity.
