MEDICINE BENEFIT
SOCIAL SECURITY SCHEME WORKING WELL. POSITION IN MASTERTON. The prescription benefit service provided under the Social Security scheme is working quite smoothly, a Masterton chemist stated today in answer to an inquiry as to how the scheme was progressing. Fully fifty per cent of the public, lie said, were not aware that the scheme was in operation. There had been no evident increase in the number of doctors' prescriptions received but that was only to be expected under the present arrangements. The doctors wer ? co-operating as far as their obligations were concerned and their assistance was a great help to the chemists. A few anomalies occurred frerc. time to time in the making up of ]d escriptions but these concerned the. chemists and not the general public.
